Ghanaian dancehall artist J.Derobie has dropped his new EP titled Firm After All, which is available for streaming and download across all major digital platforms(link is external).

The project, released through the singer’s independent record label Turf Way Records, following his exit from Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa, is the first instalment of a three-part series. It arrives on the heels of his 2022 album Grains From Love & Reality and his debut 2020 EP Nungua Diaries.

The EP, which the artist says “signifies a new era”, comprises five songs blending Afrobeats and dancehall.

“This project is very dear to me and I want to say a big thank you to everyone involved, directly and indirectly, in bringing all these ideas to life,” J.Derobie said.

It opens with ‘Time’, produced by A-swxg and touching on life’s brevity and urging listeners to pursue their dreams without delay.  On ‘She Love Badman’, J.Derobie explores the idea of loyalty, portraying a partner who stands by their significant other through all challenges. ‘Top Shoota’ and ‘Still Firm’ celebrate resilience, while ‘Brand New’ discusses fresh starts.

Hailing from Accra, J.Derobie gained nationwide fame in 2019 with his debut track ‘Poverty’, which received a remix from Jamaican star Popcaan. It won Reggae/Dancehall Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.

An alumnus of Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa 100 incubator, J.Derobie is also behind well-received singles including ‘Odo Bra’, ‘Irie’, ‘Riches’ and ‘Back It’.
