Wizkid continues to affirm his place as Africa’s biggest artists with his hit single ‘Essence’ listed among ‘The 50 Best Songs of 2021 So Far’ by Billboard. The single featuring fellow Nigerian singer Tems was ranked at number 31 in the recently published article.
‘Essence’ is a single off Wizkid’s last album, ‘Made in Lagos’ which was released back in October 2020.
Billboard describes the single as “a standout on WizKid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ album and it stays true to its title, capturing the feel of the entire album in one infectious track”. ‘Essence’ is basically a love song and the official music video to the record was released in April 2021.
So far, it has over 8.4 million views on YouTube, ranking highly among the most-watched music videos released by Nigerian artists in 2021.
‘Essence’ had already been listed among the Best Songs of 2020 by former the United States of America President Barack Obama.
