Africa’s largest music streaming platform, Boomplay, hosted the second edition of its annual ‘Boomplay Artistes Forum’, on Wednesday 1st December at Serena Hotel in Nairobi.

The event which sought to inform, unite, connect and support the Kenyan music industry, was attended by some of the A list artistes such as Nikita Kering, Prince Indah, Willy Paul, Mojishort Baba among others. Also in attendance were industry gurus Eric Musyoka, Fakii Liwali, Mike Strano who took part in various panel sessions spread out through the day.

In her speech, Martha Huro, Managing Director, East Africa, highlighted the importance of hosting such forums, especially at a time when streaming has grown exponentially within the country and region.

We’ve put together this forum to share information and tools with artistes that will further help to boost their numbers and revenue. As the leading platform in Africa, we aim to help our artistes reach a wider audience through our strategies and partnerships, such as the recent inclusion of our streaming data to Billboard charts and more,” she said.

In line with this year’s theme ‘Get Streamed & Get Paid: Making Revenue from Digital Streaming’, various topics were tackled by a number of industry stakeholders ranging from brand partnerships, earning revenue from streaming, and the government’s role in the industry.

This event was in partnership with luxury beverage brand Hennessy and had representation from regulatory bodies KAMP, KECOBO and other valuable partners.
