According to a “reliable” source, Travis Scott is planning to release a new mixtape called Dystopia before his Utopia album.
The rumour, posted on Twitter by OnnThinlce, who, according to HotNewHipHop, is a “reliable” source after being one of the first to post about Eminem’s surprise album last year, states that Scott’s forthcoming album Utopia will be released after a mixtape called Dystopia.
OnnThinIce also claimed that Utopia was always planned for release in 2022, leaving fans hyped that Scott might be returning with new music very soon.
Although Dystopia hasn’t been confirmed yet, Scott has spoken about his Utopia album over the past year, most recently last month, where he said, “Medicine, nursing, being a better person, talking, language, communication – you know, a utopian state. That’s what my album is about.”
Back in February Scott spoke about Utopia – which will follow 2018’s Astroworld – saying, “I’m evolving, collaborating with new people, delivering a whole new sound, a whole new range.”
In August his Cactus Jack Films signed a production deal with A24, and announced the deal with an image of a first draft script for Utopia. Insiders reportedly said the first project between Cactus Jack Films and A24 will “align with Scott’s upcoming album”.
Scott also performed a new song titled “Escape Plan” at Rolling Loud Miami in August. Although he hasn’t released “Escape Plan” yet, he did collaborate with Baby Keem on “durag activity” back in April, and featured on Kanye West’s Donda album with Baby Keem again.
Travis Scott is yet to officially announce his upcoming album Utopia.
