Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well” F-bomb unveiled

Taylor Swift’s 10-minute version of “All Too Well” – complete with an F-bomb – is here, and in the extended version she sings, “Fuck the patriarchy”.

Today is the release of Swift’s second re-recorded album Red (Taylor’s Version), and the album closer – a 10-minute version of “All Too Well” – features an expletive lyric about a car keychain.

In the extended version, Swift sings, “You taught me bout your past / Thinkin your future was me / And you were tossing me the car keys / “Fuck the patriarchy” keychain on the ground / We were always skipping town.”

Last year on an episode of Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums podcast, Swift told host Brittany Spanos of “All Too Well”, “It was a day when I was just, like, a broken human, walking into rehearsal just feeling terrible about what was going on in my personal life. I ended up sort of just playing four chords over and over again, and the band started kicking in … People just started playing along with me. I think they could tell I was really going through it. I just started singing and riffing and sort of ad-libbing this song that basically was “All Too Well”. It started with, “I walked through the door with you, the air was cold”. It literally just was that song, but it had probably seven extra verses and it included the F-word.”

Swift continued, “Basically I remember my sound guy was like, “Hey, I burned a CD of that thing that you were doing in case you want it” … I ended up taking it home and listening to it, and I was like, “I actually really like this, but it definitely is like 10 minutes long and I need to pare it down”.”

On socials, Swift added of the re-recorded album, “It never would have been possible to go back & remake my previous work, uncovering lost art & forgotten gems along the way if you hadn’t emboldened me. Red is about to be mine again, but it has always been ours. Now we begin again. Red (my version) is out.”

The 10-minute version of Swift’s “All Too Well” will be accompanied by a short film written, directed and starring Swift (alongside Stranger Things’ Sadie Sink and Teen Wolf‘s Dylan O’Brien) at 7pm ET / midnight GMT.
