Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has moved to allay reports that she was arrested on Sunday night for flouting the government’s curfew orders.
Omanga was the subject of discussions on social media platforms that she had spent the night at Kileleshwa Police Station after she was arrested at a club in Nairobi’s Hurlingham area. .
However, the staunch support of Deputy President William Ruto dismissed the claims indicating that the rumors were just propaganda.
“Watu wangu mimi niko sawa. Kausingizi kananibamba tu. Izo zingine ni story (My people, I’m okay anf enjoying my sleep. The rumours are just propaganda),”
Omanga wrote on Facebook.
Reports of Omanga’s arrest elicited murmurs from the DP’s corner with claims that UDA supporters were being targeted by the police.
This followed the arrest and detention of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who also spent the weekend in police cells.
The first time lawmaker had been under the radar of the Assets Recovery Authority over Sh12.5 billion allegedly moved across three of his ban accounts.
He denied the charges before the Milimani Law Courts on Monday and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.12 million with an alternative of Ksh.25 million bond.
