A warrant of arrest has been issued against Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua for defying court orders to pay a businessman an amount over Ksh.5.5 million.
According to documents seen by Citizen Digital, Governor Mutua was on July 30, 2020 ordered by the Environment and Land Court in Machakos to pay businessman David Gitau Thairu Ksh.5,590,443.15 over a dumpsite case.
The amount entailed a decretal amount of Ksh.5 million and a collection fee accumulated to Ksh.590,443.15.
Machakos Police Station OCS has now been directed to arrest Governor Mutua and present him before the court as soon as possible unless he pays the said amount.
“You are further commanded to return this warrant as soon as it is executed or the money noted in the margin is tendered to you with an endorsement certifying the day on which and manner in which it has been executed, or the reason why it has not been executed,” wrote Magistrate CN Ondieki to the OCS.
