Kenyan entertainer Jalang’o now says he will not stop hosting concerts if he clinches the Lang’ata MP seat in the upcoming August 9 General Election.
The former radio host, who doubles as an MC for various entertainment events in Kenya, said life as he knows it will not change if he is elected into office.
He went on to say that vying for a leadership position is not a life or death declaration, adding that all he will be expected to do as a leader is to deliver his promises to the constituents of Lang’ata.
“Sasa nisipige sherehe kwa sababu mimi ni mheshimiwa? Maisha lazima iendelee, if you have a gig out there and you want Heavy J, super host himself…let’s not make this thing look like it’s life or death, it is a case of can you deliver what you promised to the people?” said Jalang’o while speaking on Mungai Eve’s YouTube channel Wednesday.
The Lang’ata parliamentary seat aspirant also said that resigning from one side hustle before being elected into office is what brings rise to issues such as theft from Constituency funds.
“You don’t want to leave what you are doing, ukiwacha kazi wewe hufanya ndio unajipata umeingiza mkono kwa CDF unatoa bursary ya watoto wa shule na umeenda nayo sherehe… I know MPs who are lawyers, doctors, who are still practising, you’ve seen Jaguar coming back on stage to perform,” he said.
The comedian, who is hoping to vie under the ODM party ticket is set to battle for the Lang’ata MP seat against incumbent MP Nixon Korir, Siaya CEC member Jaoko Oburu Odinga, city lawyer Silas Jakakimba, among others.
